Carthay Circle is a prominent attraction within Disney California Adventure Park, located adjacent to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. It stands as the park’s centerpiece and draws inspiration from the historic Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles. This theater holds special significance as it was the venue for the premiere of Walt Disney’s first feature-length animated film, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” in the 1930s. Stepping through Carthay’s doors, guests are transported back in time, capturing the charm and essence of a bygone era. However, you feel transported back in time well before entering the restaurant. Outside the restaurant, visitors can enjoy the lively performances of Five & Dime, a talented musical act that encourages the crowd to dance and have fun. The replication of the theater’s facade and architecture is impressive, further adding to the nostalgic atmosphere. The Carthay Circle experience comprises a luxurious restaurant on the second floor, offering a sophisticated and upscale dining experience. The restaurant serves a menu featuring contemporary American cuisine prepared with the freshest seasonal ingredients. The Lounge on the first floor is the perfect retreat for those seeking a more laid-back ambiance. Here, guests can unwind, relish in light bites, and indulge in specialty cocktails and beverages, all while immersing themselves in the captivating allure of Hollywood’s Golden Age.

When I visited Disneyland a few weeks ago, we made reservations twice at the Lounge. You will have to make reservations for the Lounge or restaurant, depending on which one you prefer. If you want to experience Carthay Circle but need help snagging a reservation, try to join the walk-up list. It would help if you did this early when they open at 11 a.m. The Lounge features a classy, inviting atmosphere that transports guests to the Golden Age of Hollywood. The interior is tastefully decorated with art deco elements, vintage Hollywood memorabilia, and comfortable seating arrangements. The Carthay Circle Lounge offers a selection of handcrafted cocktails, premium wines, beers, and other beverages. The drinks menu often includes classic and signature cocktails, providing guests various options to suit their preferences. Try the pear martini. You can thank me later! In addition to the drinks, the Lounge also serves a variety of appetizers and small plates. These offerings are ideal for guests looking to enjoy a light meal or share with friends and family. The Lounge shares its theme with the Carthay Circle Restaurant, commemorating the historic Carthay Circle Theatre and Walt Disney’s early successes. The decor and overall setting are designed to evoke the glamour and sophistication of the 1930s, adding to the immersive experience. Beyond its culinary offerings, Carthay Circle plays a significant role in the park’s entertainment, serving as a backdrop for various shows and parades, further enhancing the immersive experience of Disney California Adventure. The building’s architectural brilliance epitomizes Walt Disney’s vision and passion for creating unforgettable moments in the world of animation. One of the things that I loved about the restaurant besides the fabulous pear martini was the theming. You feel like you are stepping into the 1930s. Ask the staff about the history of the restaurant. The stories they told us were fascinating, and I enjoyed learning why they created this restaurant.

A visit to Carthay Circle promises a truly magical experience for Disney enthusiasts and all those who appreciate the captivating history and creativity behind Walt Disney’s timeless animated films.
